Happy Halloween 2009!

I didn't have the time or sanity to even attempt to make my daughter's Halloween costume this year but I plan to eventually for future Halloweens. My wonderful mommie made all of our costumes growing up (I got my sewing genes from her and my grandma) and I plan to continue the tradition with my children...just not this year whilst planning a wedding. That and her birthday is next month so I've been party planning for that too. Yeesh. I want to talk her into this awesome costume one year! I have an unabashed love for Hot Air Balloons. Why didn't I think of this...

A lot of the time, in the craft world you come across things that just make you think..."why didn't think of that?" This is one of those things. I came across this on Design*Sponge and realized it is made of the same fabric I made my grocer tote out of. It'd be cute to use washable markers and write different notes to your kids on. Aww I can't wait until my daughter goes to school and I can write her gooshy notes for her lunches. This will def be added to my never ending "To-make" list. Hope you all enjoyed your weekend! We spent all of Sunday afternoon at the park, it was a beautiful day here in Hampton Roads...now I am sore...I should get out and play more :P

Cucumbersome's DIY Necklaces

I came across this tute for Recycled Fabric Necklaces on one of my fave blogs, Cucumbersome. These necklaces are so fun to make! They seriously only take 5 minutes each to create and they instantly add to a simple outfit. I ran out to my local thrift store and bought 5 Large colorful t-shirts with the right softness and stretch (Britt does a great job at explaining what types of fabric to look for while thrifting) for only 99 cents each. Make sure you use a ruler, it helps to lessen the jagged ends when cutting. And a rotary cutter will make the cutting process much easier, although you could use fabric scissors but it might take a bit more than the 5 mins promised as well as some more sweat to cut through the four layers of fabric. I love them and plan to make more. You can wear them so many different ways. You can't beat updating outfits with $1 necklaces you made yourself...they are addicting, I'm warning you.
