A lot of the time, in the craft world you come across things that just make you think..."why didn't think of that?" This is one of those things. I came across this on Design*Sponge and realized it is made of the same fabric I made my grocer tote out of. It'd be cute to use washable markers and write different notes to your kids on. Aww I can't wait until my daughter goes to school and I can write her gooshy notes for her lunches. This will def be added to my never ending "To-make" list. Hope you all enjoyed your weekend! We spent all of Sunday afternoon at the park, it was a beautiful day here in Hampton Roads...now I am sore...I should get out and play more :P

Why didn't I think of this...

Grocery Tote
Man have I been a terrible blogger. Almost 2 weeks since my last post. Well this is one of the things that has been occupying my time. I finished a grocery tote for the July stitch-along with the HR Burda Style Sewing Group I'm a part of. I'm not one for patterns. They are quite confusing for me. I usually just wing it or use tutes but I have really been wanting to learn how to read patterns so I can start doing some more exciting things, like clothes. Sewing patterns are just difficult to read by nature, luckily I've been told once you learn, it just gets easier...like riding a bike. I hope so. Either way this is the Grocer Tote from Butterick pattern 5338, Bag C. It came out quite nice. I had extra bias tape left over so I decided to make it into a nice little rosette that I applied to the front of the bag. I think it really adds to it :)

No longer an unfinished project...

I whipped this little tote up last night. Its actually the first sewing project I've finished in awhile. Matter of fact, I started this tote a few months ago and I just finished it last night by adding the inner liner. I haven't really done much sewing for sometime. I've just been busy with life and what not, and I guess it shows by how some of my stitching looks :P I attempted to do some abstract stitch work to accent the heart, it didn't turn out quite as I wanted but ahh well...its not much, but hey its a functioning bag that I plan to just throw whatever overflow doesn't fit in my purse. Which is pretty sad because my bag is already pretty huge and pretty heavy. Its a good couple pounds. I don't do small bags. Happy Friday!
